Internal tool

SEM Devs Social Manager

The tool our team uses to plan, review and publish our own marketing photo carousels to our own social accounts, including our company TikTok account.

Who can use it

Only SEM Devs employees, signing in with a company account. It is not offered to customers or third parties, there is no public sign-up, and it publishes to exactly one TikTok account: our own. Access requires a login, which is why a test account is supplied with our app review submission.

What it does

SEM Devs is a software development company in Bagnolo Mella, Brescia, Italy. We publish short educational posts about software development, system administration and infrastructure. This tool is how those posts are made and released.

Everything happens in one place, so a post is written, reviewed and published without leaving the dashboard.

How it works

  1. A carousel is drafted

Our system prepares a set of images, a cover and several content slides, from a topic our team has chosen. Nothing is published at this stage.

  2. A person reviews it

A member of staff opens the draft, reads the text, checks the images and the caption. Drafts can be edited, regenerated or deleted. No content reaches any social network without this step.

  3. The TikTok account is connected

Once, during setup, an administrator authorizes the tool against our company TikTok account through TikTok's own login screen. The authorization can be revoked at any time from TikTok's settings.

  4. The carousel is published

On approval, the images are published to our TikTok profile as a photo post. The dashboard then stores the link to the published post so it can be opened later.

The TikTok permissions we ask for, and why

We request the smallest set that makes the tool work. Permissions we do not need are not requested: video.upload, for instance, is deliberately absent, because we never create drafts for a creator to edit inside TikTok.

PermissionWhy we need it
user.info.basicLogin KitUsed once, at setup. We read the open id and display name to confirm the right account was connected, and to build the link to a published post so our team can open it from the dashboard. We do not read followers, videos, analytics or any other profile data.
video.publishContent Posting APIUsed to publish an approved photo carousel to our own profile, as a direct post. The images are served over HTTPS from a domain we own and have verified with TikTok. A human approves every single post; nothing is published automatically.

What we do with the data

The access token for our own TikTok account, the account's open id and display name, and the links to posts we have published. That is all. We do not collect data about anyone who views, likes or follows our posts, and the tool has no users other than our own staff. The details are in the privacy policy.
